Poems and Song Lyrics
This document was first created Saturday, February 28,

The things that people write nowadays, and call poems, are not poems.
The people who write them are not poets. I don't have a good name
for them, either the people or the things. For lack of better terms,
I refer to the things as "weird prose that you read in a strained tone
of voice" and to the people as phonies. A piece of writing isn't
a poem unless it has rhyme and rhythm. A person who writes such a
thing, even a Poet Laureate, isn't a poet unless the thing that he writes
is a poem.
Miscellaneous Poems
The main thing that these poems have in common is that
I like them. I've used some of them, or quotes from some of them
in some of my writing. Others, I just like. That's why they're
here.

Childhood Poems from My Early Years
These are poems from my childhood and early adolescence.
Most of them were recited to us by the adults, mostly by my father.
I'll collect here as many of them as I can recall, as accurately as I can
recall them, in consultation with various other interested members of the
family.
